In addition to their beauty and wonderful scents, flowers are also a traditional and articulate way to convey your message. Flowers are subjects that lend themselves quite well to being picked and photographed. As Flower Photography can be challenging, it is equally rewarding being without a doubt one of the most photographed subjects. We are surrounded by them, and as they show-off their wide range of colours, shapes, and sizes there are those that will stand out and catch your eye. Looking closely into nature, certainly flowers will grab my attention as there is just something about the inherent beauty of a flower that provides drama and interest and a touch of unique personality. |
Watkins Glen State Park left me spellbound! Just 1.5 hrs south of Rochester, it was not to be missed. A landscape sculpted by water as it cuts away the rock, forming natures rugged gorge and spectacular waterfalls. Exploring the trail you will encounter 19 waterfalls within a 2 mile range. The lush green path winds over and under waterfalls and through the cascading spray of caverns. In the early 1900's entrance tunnels were hand cut into the rock to allow access to visitors making it a popular tourist destination which still stands today. I certainly experienced the dramatic landscape by walking along the South Rim Trail. Yes there are plenty of steps along the way, yet one cannot avoid stopping at numerous points to observe natures wonders at the same time cooling off by the misty breeze. Every turn I took was a new photo opportunity in itself. I surely was not prepared for the absolute beauty & breath taking vistas. I can just imagine this place in Fall engulfed in flaming colours. |
George Eastman Entrepreneur and Philanthropist (July 12, 1854 – March 14, 1932) was an American pioneer of popular Photography who founded the Eastman Kodak, bringing Photography to the mainstream.
Visiting the world's oldest Photography Museum in Rochester NY simply connected the past to the present. What truly impressed me was stepping into an Obscura Camera (room 10x10) which put so much into perspective.
It was fascinating to explore his historic mansion a landmark built in 1902 and see how he lived.
Net worth: USD $95 million at the time of his unfortunate death (approximately $1.5 billion in 2017)
A suicide note was found "My work is done, why wait" ending his legacy.
Quotes: Light makes Photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light.
Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to Photography.
