Watkins Glen's close encounter with Mother Nature

Watkins Glen State Park left me spellbound! Just 1.5 hrs south of Rochester, it was not to be missed.
A landscape sculpted by water as it cuts away the rock, forming natures rugged gorge and spectacular waterfalls. Exploring the trail you will encounter 19 waterfalls within a 2 mile range.
The lush green path winds over and under waterfalls and through the cascading spray of caverns.
In the early 1900's entrance tunnels were hand cut into the rock to allow access to visitors making it a popular tourist destination which still stands today. I certainly experienced the dramatic landscape by walking along the South Rim Trail. Yes there are plenty of steps along the way, yet one cannot avoid stopping at numerous points to observe natures wonders at the same time cooling off by the misty breeze. Every turn I took was a new photo opportunity in itself.
I surely was not prepared for the absolute beauty & breath taking vistas.
I can just imagine this place in Fall engulfed in flaming colours.
